Oregon Blueberry Fight Prompts Farm Bill Changes

“Hot Goods” classe in the 1938 FLSA (Section 10011) adds new consultation between the Secretary of Labor and the Agricultural Secretary regarding any restraining or confiscation of shipments. Florida Blueberry Harvest Expected to be near 25,000,000 lbs

In twenty years Florida is adding a serious amount of blueberries to expected 2014 harvest. Crop expected to peak mid April. New southern highbush cultivars developed by University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences that need less chilling responsible for dramatic growth of blueberry harvest so far south.
